This is my latest maquette. Berkely Breathed's "Opus" character. I will most likely paint him for a more finished look. These pictures are from before I baked him. (My oven in my current apartment ran a little hot and he got a bit burnt.)

Here are a few boards for my children's book project. I started it a few years ago with a rough dummy, and am finally revisiting it. I think by end of summer I will hopefully finish a full dummy with some color images. I will also be tweaking the dino design.

Last Spring, I took Vin Teng's maquette sculpting class. I previously posted "Bohemoth" but I thought I would share the other two. My first one was "Ickis" from my favorite Nicktoon, Ahhhh! Real Monsters. It was pretty challenging overall, especially for my first one, but I enjoyed the process a lot. The surface could be a bit more refined, but for my first try, I was pretty happy. I took on "Cuzco" from Disney's Emperor's New Groove next. (I love llamas!!) I had the privilage last semester of interning at Nickelodeon Animation Studios on a new show called Robot and Monster. The creator of the show, (the ever so awesome Dave Pressler), inspired me to continue to do these sculpts and try to come out with a more refined, polished product. I really enjoyed working with this new medium and intend to continue. I'm taking Vin's class again, so I will have atleast three new sculpts in the next few months . YAY!

Long time, no blog. I'm going to get better at this!

I just recently finished my intern journey at Nickelodeon Animation Studios. It was the most amazing time of my life. I grew up watching Nick, and never could have imagined that I would have the opportunity to work alongside some of my heroes! I cannot express my gratitude for all of the inspiration and connections the internship has given me! I met so many talented, amazing artists and individuals who believe in me and want me to succeed. I definitely hope to someday be back there, in any capacity. That company was absolutely wonderful to me, and I am a much better artist and person because of that experience. Thank you Nickelodeon!!!

I've just begun my last semester in my undergrad for my BFA in Entertainment Art and Animation and Illustration. Below are some sketchbook pages from my first assignment for Chuck's storyboarding class. Assignment: Draw, draw, draw!

I conquered a huge fear this semester in enrolling in illustration b (digital). Not having any previous experience in illustrator and minimal adventures in photoshop, I was not sure how the class would go. Following the initial embarrassment of not being able to turn on the mac the first day, things got easier...I don't think I could have survived without the help of the amazingly patient Mr. Chris Nielsen. A 'lil humiliation and a thousand questions later, these are a few of my projects from the semester.

Gasp!!! Emily finally has a blog??! Has she conquered her fears of computers?! Hah. Not really, but I am warming up to them, and have started venturing into the digital art realm.
